Massive Child Pornography Network Busted
Authorities in United States, United Kingdom, and South Korea busted one of the largest pornography network encountered up to date.
South Korea operation of child pornography website described as ‘the largest dark web child porn market’ has been put on trial by Federal Grand Jury.
Law Enforcement Officials on Wednesday had arrested hundreds of people worldwide after knocking out a South Korea based dark web child pornography site that sold gruesome videos for digital money.
Website under the name of ‘Welcome to Video’ relied on crypto-currency to sell assets to 250,000 videos depicting child abuse, according to authorities.
According to reports, officials have rescued at least 23 underage victims in the United States, United Kingdom and Spain who were being actively abused by the users of the site. Whereas, many of the children in the videos have not yet been identified.
Authorities have also arrested 337 other users in the US states of Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington State and Washington, DC.
Some of the suspects were arrested in the United Kingdom, South Korea, Germany, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Czech Republic, Canada, Ireland, Spain, Brazil and Australia. According to U.S Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski,”Darknet sites that profit from the sexual exploitation of children are among the most vile and reprehensible forms of criminal behavior.”
He further added, “This administration will not allow child predators to use lawless online spaces as a shield.”
“Through the sophisticated tracing of bitcoin transactions, IRS-CE special agents were able to determine the location of the Darknet server, identify the administrator of the website and ultimately track down the website server’s physical location in South Korea,” he said
This operation resulted in the confiscation of approximately eight terabytes of child sexual exploitation videos available for the members of sites.
