Moin Akhtar – A Legend Never to be Forgotten
On April 22nd 2011, Moin Akhtar departed from this world, leaving behind all his amazing work. Here is a sneak peak on his life.
There have been are there are many comedians in Pakistan, but none can match the standards of Moin Akhtar. Born on 24th December 1950 in Karachi, Moin Akhtar started his career in acting when he was 13 years old only. He had the role of Shylock in Shakespeare’s ‘The Merchant of Venice’. In 1966, at the age of 16, he came forward as a mimicking artist and later mimicked many different people on National Television.
He started his career playing the role of a woman in and as Rosy. Moreover, he starred in the ever famous talk show, named Loose Talk, which is now going viral over the internet. All thanks to the meme world. He used to change his appearance and his versatility in the field was so amazing that each and every episode of this talk show still appeals to the audience. Moin Akhtar mostly used to work with Anwar Maqsood and Bushra Ansari.
Apart from that Moin Akhtar has been a part of different sitcoms and TV Shows. Few of them got so popular that people still love watching them. For example, Fifty Fifty, Yes Sir No Sir, Half Plate, Aangan Terha, Bakra Qiston par, and many more.
What made Moin Akhtar different from other comedians nowadays, was his selection of words. Unlike now, Moin Akhtar’s comedy was so precise that every age group could understand it and one could watch it with their families. Now that is not the case, referring to the vulgarity in the comedy shows lately.
Moin Akhtar passed away on 22nd April 2011 in his hometown, suffering from a heart attack. There were thousands of people who attended his funeral. Also, Moin Akhtar has won several awards in his life, including Sitara-e-Imtiaz. Even Bollywood actors were sad over Moin Akhtar’s demise.
