WHO Impressed By Pakistan’s Isolation Units

In a thread of tweets, WHO mentioned many countries it is impressed by, which also includes Pakistan due to the isolation units established here.

WHO mentioned that it was impressed by Pakistan’s efforts to curb coronavirus. Pakistan definitely took some proactive decisions regarding the pandemic and WHO appreciates the efforts. WHO quoted its director-general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in a series of tweets where he appreciated many countries including Pakistan.

Dr Tedro said:

“We know that many countries are facing acute shortages of personal protective equipment & WHO is working to increase supply. So far we have shipped diagnostic tests & almost 1M items of personal protective equipment to 15 countries in the region & more is on the way”

Following the same thread, he mentioned he was “impressed by the progress being made” in Pakistan to curb coronavirus by “the commitment to establishing temporary isolation units”.

Along with Pakistan, WHO’s director-general also mentioned the efforts in Iran, UAE, Afghanistan and Somalia. These countries have also proven to be proactive by taking the right steps at the right time. Iran has been active in reaching out to 70M people through a national campaign. UAE has rapidly scaled up its tests and Afghanistan & Somalia have used polio assets in combating coronavirus.

However, WHO has urged everyone to follow the guidelines it has provided. WHO has formulated many documents regarding how to fight and tackle COVID-19 with limited knowledge. Also, it has left us with a thread of tweets that may help us and the government as well.

Along with all the guidelines provided, we also need to understand the root cause of spread, which is through droplets. Hence, we need to stay at home and practice social distancing. In Pakistan, the majority is not following these strict guidelines which has in return landed us with over 10,000 cases.
