This follows a list of accolades that the country has received which helps reflect the revival of the tourism industry. Ancient cities such as Mohenjo Daro and Harappa allow visitors to explore some of the historical sites of the former Indus Valley Civilization. Major cities such as Lahore host a number of significant historical sites of the former Mughal Empire such as the Badshahi Mosque, Lahore Fort and Shalimar Bagh (which is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site).
Pakistan is also extremely renowned for its diverse geography with snowy mountain ranges in the north, to the pristine beaches in the south. Pakistan hosts some of the highest mountain peaks in the region. One of the tallest mountains in the world K2 is situated in Pakistan. Pakistan also hosts some of the most beautiful valleys in the world such as Swat. Northern towns such as Murree are also known for their gorgeous scenery and friendly locals, thus making it an immensely popular destination for travelers.
With such a vast array of different cultures, a diverse history and loads of natural beauty, it comes as no surprise as to why Pakistan ranks so highly as a tourist destination.
