The country reported 3,262 new infections in the last 24 hours, raising the total tally to 410,072 as active cases climbed to 51,654. The GOP data shows the pandemic’s pace in Pakistan has quickened as the tally crossed 400,000 on December 01 with at least 29,765 new cases reported in the last 10 days only.
The highest number of coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours was reported in Sindh with 1,983 infections, with the total number of cases from Sindh reaching, 179,240. Punjab came second with 727 new cases, with the total cases reaching, 121,753. Islamabad recorded 417, with 31,639 total cases. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 218, with 48,264 total, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 85, with total, 7,151. Balochistan 53 with a total of 17,333 cases and Gilgit-Baltistan reported 16 cases, with a total of 4,692.
With the virus claiming 55 lives in the last 24 hours, the death toll reached 8,260 – 3,091 of which are recorded in Punjab, 2,968 in Sindh, KP has reported 1,378 deaths, AJK 173, Balochistan 169 and GB reported 97 deaths. The GOP data shows 350,305 people have recovered from the virus up until now, with 3,354 during the past 24 hours.
While Covid is on a rise in Pakistan once again, the total number of cases from around the world reaches, 63,788,113 and total deaths, 1,479,442. According to Joh Hopkins University tally. The total number of cases in the US has reached 14,139,577. In India 9,571,559. In France 2,310,271 and in the UK 1,678,418.
