Pakistan Introducing Freestyle Wrestling League

For a long time, the people in Pakistan have wanted a local Freestyle Wrestling League. We have always seen wrestling matches done abroad by foreign players; it would be pleasant to see the action taking place in Pakistan as well.

On Thursday, Strawberry Sports Management announced that Pakistan will be introducing their first-ever freestyle wrestling league. Strawberry Sports already own the Super Kabaddi League which has been a huge success in Pakistan, we have high hopes from the freestyle wrestling league as well.

With the Pakistan Wrestling Federation collaborating exclusively on Pakistan’s Freestyle Wrestling League, we’re sure it will successfully be conducted. “Pakistan, once considered a powerhouse of wrestling, has managed to produce some world-class players. The inaugural season of the league will be played next year, subject to Covid-19,” Strawberry Sports Management said.
“The city-based franchise league will feature top grapplers in different weight categories. The scale of the league will expand every year,” it added.

Moreover, the director and founder of Strawberry Sports Management, Haider Ali Daud said, “This is an immensely proud moment for the sports of Pakistan. Together with PWF, we are reviving an old and most popular sport in the country. Wrestling has its roots in the culture of Pakistan. Through the freestyle wrestling league in Pakistan, quality players and the game will be highlighted.”

Along with Haider Ali Daud, Pakistan Wrestling Federation’s secretary, Arshad Sattar, is pleased with this step of the company, he says, “We are excited to announce Pakistan’s first-ever freestyle wrestling league. The game of wrestling will receive much-needed attention and commercial support through the league. We are confident that together with Strawberry Sports Management we will write a new chapter in the history of wrestling.”

Furthermore, Arshad mentions the advantages of having a Pakistani freestyle wrestling league; he says that through the league players will be able to earn and improve the financial position of the federation, and if all goes well, they will no longer need support from any external sources.
He stated that as the Covid-19 situation gets better, PWF and Strawberry Sports will be announcing the launch dates very soon.
