PDM to Protest at ECP Office on January 19
PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Thursday that PDM will protest outside the ECP on January 19 to demand its verdict in the foreign funding case
Spokesperson of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Thursday, January 14 that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will hold a protest outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on January 19 to demand its verdict in the foreign funding case.
Whilst talking to the media in the presence of Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and other party leaders and workers, Marriyum Aurangzeb claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had admitted to receiving illegal foreign funding through 23 accounts.
“The PTI has admitted that agents may have received illegal funding. PTI does not deny that the funding did not reach their accounts,” she informed the reporters. “So, why the Election Commission is not making a decision?” she questioned.
“The decision should be written as the people of Pakistan are coming to get the verdict on January 19,” Marriyum Aurangzeb said. This case was filed seven years ago in 2014. “On January 19, the people are coming to the Election Commission for its decision.”
Marriyum Aurangzeb stated that PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz will lead the party procession, while the other PDM leaders will arrive at the Election Commission.
PML-N spokesperson’s also criticised Prime Minister’s Adviser on Accountability, Shehzad Akbar, who previously sent a defamation notice to her, saying that when Akbar waves papers and levels allegations of corruption against the opposition, he does not think of other persons’ honour.
Marriyum Aurangzeb asked the adviser to instead answer the questions of Kaveh Moussavi – the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Broadsheet LLC – who had alleged that commission was demanded from him.
