Peshawar Zalmi Collaborates with Runway Pakistan as Official Digital Media Partner

Led by Wahab Riaz, with superstar Mahira Khan as the brand ambassador and official digital media partner as Runway Pakistan, Peshawar Zalmi is coming with full force for PSL6.

It is with immense pride and gratitude that we announce Runway Pakistan and Billboard Pakistan as Peshawar Zalmi’s Official Digital Media and Publications Partners for PSL6.

Peshawar Zalmi is one of the most prominent and successful franchises of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). In the 2017 league, they emerged as champions. And in 2018 and 2019 editions Peshawar Zalmi finished as runners-up.

This year, despite falling short last year, the Peshawar Zalmi is prepping with full force. With team members such as Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Wahab Riaz and Shoaib Malik, the team is backed with a magnitude of cricket excellence.

Although Mujeeb Ur Rehman is making his PSL debut in the 2021 league, however, he has already dominated several global T20 leagues and has 145 career wickets and an economy of 6.64. Moreover, Mujeeb ranked 18th on the T20 Player Index.

Peshawar Zalmi is led by the leading wicket-taker Wahab Riaz himself. The seasoned T20 pro has 76 wickets at an economy of 7.01 in 55 PSL appearances.

Peshawar Zalmi Squad

Peshawar Zalmi 2021 Squad: Wahab Riaz, Abrar Ahmed, Kamran Akmal, Haider Ali, Umaid Asif, Ravi Bopara, Amad Butt, Iman-ul-Haq, Mohammad Imran, Mohammad Imran Randhawa, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Amir Khan, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Saqib Mahmood, Shoaib Malik, David Miller, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Sherfane Rutherford.

While speaking on the team’s previous performance, Wahab Riaz said: “Our combination last year did not click. It’s very important for any team to have a good combination for winning matches and an event. Last year a few individual top performances were seen but overall we struggled in both batting and bowling. This year we have a very good combination. We have informed all boys about their roles so that they could prepare well during the next four to five days ahead of the event.”

Apart from having a strong team and a highly-experienced cricketer, Daren Sammy, as their coach, the Peshawar Zalmi has an even more influential brand ambassador. Actress Mahira Khan has confirmed that she is the brand ambassador for Peshawar Zalmi for the PSL 6. This is not the superstar’s first time with Zalmi — she represented the team in PSL 3 and PSL 4.

Speaking on the announcement, owner of the Peshawar Zalmi, Javed Afridi said: “Glad to announced Mahira Khan as Peshawar Zalmi Ambassador for the third time, it’s a hat trick of the winning partnership. Mahira Khan is one of the biggest showbiz stars of Pakistan and we are thrilled to have her for PSL 6. She was with Zalmi in seasons three and four too and I hope this will continue in the coming years.”

Furthermore, Peshawar Zalmi has also unveiled their special Heritage edition training kit for the upcoming 2021 tournament. According to Javed Afridi, the kit represents the culture and heritage of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the northern areas of Pakistan.

“We want to promote our culture through PSL and Zalmi. The shirt will highlight in front of the world what the region has got to offer,” Javed Afridi said.

The training jersey is imprinted with Khyber Pass, Islamia College, Edwards College, Ghanta Ghar, cultural truck art patterns, Pakistan’s national animal Markhor, national flower Jasmine, K2 and famous tourist spot Malam Jabba.

The 6th edition of the PSL will commence from February 20, with initial matches scheduled to be held in Karachi before moving to Lahore for the latter part of the league.
