Why Should We have PSL at The Gwadar Stadium?

After being left unattended for so many years, one of the hidden gems of Pakistan, Gwadar finally got the attention it needs in 2015 when Pakistan and China announced the China Pakistan Economic Corridor(CPEC). This was the start of Pakistan and China’s friendship and the start of the development of one of our most valuable port cities Gwadar. The newly built cricket stadium at Gwadar is a sight for sore eyes, surrounded by beautiful hills, the stadium is one of the most scenic ones to exist in Pakistan. And I plan to convince everyone as to why we ought to have PSL at the Gwadar Stadium!

The International Cricket Council’s (ICC) social media released a picture of Gwadar cricket stadium commenting on how there is no venue more beautiful than the one at Gwadar and people cannot stop admiring the sort of beauty we have in our country. The cricket world is in awe of the pictures released, claiming that the stadium sets precedence to anything they have seen before. It provides a spectacular view of the surrounding hills with the clearest blue sky there can be. “Some deem it as the most beautiful stadium in the world”.

The first-ever match hosted in this stadium took place today 19th February, between Showbiz Sharks Vs the Gwadar Dolphins. The match is said to be dedicated to the late Muhammad Ali Sadpara, with a Dua made by the players for the late legend. Moreover, after the match, the teams could not stop raving about the beauty of the stadium and how much they enjoyed the experience. This goes on to show just how badly we want PSL to take place in Gwadar.

Pakistan Super League(PSL) is the star of the country, bringing together all the die-hard cricket fans under one roof. It has been a continuous source of entertainment for Pakistani’s since 2015, acting as a source of pride for our nation. It represents the true spirit of Pakistan, a nation drenched with love for cricket since the beginning.

Pros of having PSL in Gwadar:

The Gwadar stadium is one of the most beautiful stadiums in the whole country. Thereby, the thought of hosting the country’s most prestigious and successful tournament here is looked forward to by every Pakistani. Liaquat Shahwani, a spokesperson in Balochistan also speaks on behalf of his people to host PSL season six in the ever so glorious Gwadar Cricket Stadium. Playing cricket in the middle of natural hills is something that would be very unique and new in Pakistan and would also attract global attention, opening future endeavors for international tournaments. Moreover, the location is remote which would limit the number of spectators, crucial during the on-going Covid-19 situation.

Cons:

However, there can be some technical issues that arise with this. These include:

• Security concerns.
• Infrastructure is not adequate to accommodate thousands of people.
• The location is quite far.
• Internet issue, Gwadar does not have adequate internet services to broadcast the event “live”.

Overall, here is the full picture of the situation, with pros and cons. The prospect of PSL in Gwadar looks quite promising given some aspects are taken care of. Maybe it is a bit late for this year, but It is up to you guys to decide and make PSL 2022 happen in Gwadar!
