The PIA administration had set a target of Rs. 194 billion for the current year’s revenue. An additional target of Rs. 320 million was set to curb the operational losses. However, with such travel restrictions in place, the overall deficit is likely to exceed Rs. 37 billion.

Current Situation in Karachi

As of now, Sindh Health Department will be setting up its own health desk and screening at the Karachi Airport to screen all the patients coming to the city. An advisory will be issued today for people to self-quarantine for 14 days if they have recently come to Karachi from a country with positive cases.

Furthermore, all private and public hospitals will be setting up a front-line desk for information on coronavirus. Gadap Hospital has especially been prepared and set up as an isolation facility for all confirmed positive cases. Standard operating procedures (SOPs) have been provided to all private hospitals on how to deal with a positive case.

The Sindh Health Department advises people to avoid large public gatherings, and it has been suggested to the chief minister to ban large public gatherings, like Pakistan Super League. Shutting down schools for a longer duration has also been suggested to the CM.
