PSL 5 Opening Ceremony Left an Impact

Opening Ceremony’s Overview:

Well, Pakistan surely is progressing. Be it the management of PSL or the people of Karachi, they know how to get things done. Here are few things that we noticed in PSL V‘s opening Ceremony.

1. Unlike the last few PSLs, this time the stadium was filling up with people. As far as we could see, no seat went empty. There were friends, family and colleagues waiting for the opening ceremony to start, which, did start on the given time.
2. The use of technology in PSL V is something unusual in Pakistan. However, PSL V brought in Augmented Reality (AR) to describe what PSL is like. An AR eagle flew through different cities and ended up sitting on Quaid-e-Azam’s Shrine, which depicted the unity that prevails in the country. The use of AR was something new in PSL.
3.  After few performances from various singers, there was a picture ceremony that took place. Along with Fakhr e Alam, Chairman PCB Ahsan Maani, Owner HBL Muhammad Aurangzeb and CM Sindh Muraad Ali Shah, were specially abled kids who were invited to the event. They also took shared the stage with the team owners, which showed the humble gesture of all the owners present there.
4. In the end, there were beautiful fireworks displayed all over the stadium. It seemed that a lot of money had been spent on the fireworks to make the event look even more beautiful. The fireworks were so impressive that they left everyone in awe.

If we look at the intensity and the management of the event, we can evidently say, that this was the biggest celebration in the history of cricket leagues in Pakistan. No one, has ever seen such big celebration on such a grand scare in the last 25 years or so. One can not even tell how much it would have taken, economically and physically, to carry out such a big event in Karachi. Kudos to the team.

Economical Perspective:

Unlike recent PSL series, this series will entirely be held in Pakistan. Prior to this, matches were being held in Pakistan and UAE, with less than one-third being hosted in Pakistan. The biggest reason for this were the security threats that Pakistan apparently possessed. However, this shift of hosting matches will be bringing a drastic change to Pakistan’s economy. Obviously, all those coming here, all the profits earned by PCB from every small and big venture being stalled there, the board will be earning out of it. Nonetheless, matches in Pakistan are more accessible to people living here. Those who want to meet international and national cricketers and want to see live PSL can do so, by just buying tickets which, too, are available at minimal price. Going to another country, adding fare charges and other issues won’t be a hurdle to them. Not only PCB, but Pakistan on whole will be earning huge revenue through these matches, which are being hosted in home grounds.

Talent & Recognition:

PSL, on its basic level, has for sure been a big platform for young talent in the country. We can say, PSL acts as trail for those who are worthy of being in Pakistan Cricket Team. Players like Rizwan Khan, Haris Rauf and many more have made their place in the national team through PSL. So all in all, PSL has provided a platform to showcase talent that is really essential for Pakistan Cricket Team. If only, Pakistan spends more on acquiring this talent from all over Pakistan, surely PCB can pick the stars of tomorrow from their country. Moreover, PSL has also acted helped get back the reputation that Pakistan had lost in 2009 Sri Lankan Cricket Team attack. Due to PSL only, cricket teams have started to visit Pakistan on different tours. Nevertheless, if we compare PSL V to PSL I, more foreign players have agreed to be a part of Pakistan Super League, and to visit Pakistan.

What About The Fans?

Well, the fans are crazy after PSL for a reason. The people of Pakistan love cricket, but the current generation has been depriving of it, due to evident reasons. Now, its their time to meet those they love and usually see on screens, but can’t ever meet them in real. PSL gives people of Pakistan an opportunity to meet their stars, live, in their respective or nearby city. This year, PSL is being held in five different cities. The opening ceremony has been held in Karachi, along with few other matches. The rest will be held in Lahore, Islamabad, Multan and Rawalpindi respectively. This also gives a chance to the underdeveloped cities like Multan and Rawalpindi to grow, eventually.

On the contrary, PCB, the government and various other organizations are also providing funds to improvise the stadiums in Pakistan. Few years ago, what looked like an abandoned stadium, is today full of lively people. All because the government had spend to make stadiums better. So we can say, it is the people as well as the government, who make these matches happen, actually. One of them goes missing, PSL won’t be the same. And the huge crowd, with disciplined opening ceremony showed, what this country, PCB and PSL is capable of.
