Free Prisoners with Minor Offences: Sindh Government

Sindh Government has decided to release prisoners with minor offences who have finished their sentences but are unable to pay their penalty bonds.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced that the Sindh Government has decided to release prisoners charged with minor offences who have finished their sentences but are unable to pay their penalty bonds. The Sindh Government will be paying their penalty bonds.

In addition to this, CM Shah has also directed the Inspector General of Prisons to ensure that there is distance put between the remaining prisoners during the outbreak of COVID-19, and that proper hygiene is practiced across all prisons in Sindh. He stated that the Sindh Government has already allocated funds for the provision of health facilities to the prisoners.

Most violators of the lock down in Sindh are not being booked as the IGP Sindh has directed the police to avoid arresting people who are not habitual violators of the law. These people are also the victims of the current situation and the police intends on working along with the elders of the community to spread awareness.
