Sindh Govt Increases Ration Fund Upto 1 Billion

Sindh government increases the ration fund up to RS1.1 billion to cater to the needs of the deserving families amidst the lockdown.

Sindh Minister for Energy Imtiaz Shaikh reported that the provincial government has increased the ration fund up to Rs1.1 billion to help deserving families in the midst of lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic. Imtiaz Shaikh said in a statement that each portion contains basic necessary items worth more than Rs3,000 which are being distributed to the needy residents in the early morning and late-night hours.

He explained that around 2,000,000 individuals will be transferred money through mobile phone applications up to Rs3, 000 in stages beginning from Monday. The provincial government is distributing ration bags for 170 people to each union council, said Shaikh.

The Sindh Minister of Energy indicated that the ration bags and money installments could be expanded if there should any occurrence of another expansion of lockdown. Earlier in the day, in a step to provide relief to daily wagers and the needy people amid coronavirus lockdown, the provincial government finalized the program for ration distribution in Karachi.

Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani said that the organization will give ration bags to individuals at their doorsteps. He maintained that the proportion will be dispersed among the needy individuals between 5 pm to 7 pm, including that authorities will convey ration bags with the help of the assistant commissioner and the officials of the UCs from Friday.
