The Government and Its ‘Promises’

It’s been 7 months now, and almost all the promises made by the current Prime Minister are just the same as those which were made by the previous governments.

Since Imran Khan came as the Prime Minister of Pakistan in August 2018, there were many promises he made to the nation, out of which almost all of them were not even considered upon. One promise out of them was to bring in investors to Pakistan, eventually bringing money in the country. However, its 7 months now, and we have heard of no investors in the country yet.

From 2017-2018, $3,092.0m were invested to Pakistan, with 1812.6 from China, however $1,619m have been invested into Pakistan from July ’18 – Feb ’19, with 899.6 from China, only. The average investment is quite less than what it ought to be, unlike the promises made.

Recently, an advertisement came up in a newspaper, where an investor did come and made up a 5 star resort, but guess what? The roads leading to it are useless.

With such incompetency, and inflation reaching at 9.41% this March, who is to be blamed? Moreover regardless of the mistake, our ‘laws’ don’t allow us to criticize those who make mistakes. If the leader is worth it, that criticism shouldn’t offend him/her, rather should be a lesson to learn from and work upon, because that is what leaders do.
