Turkey-Syria Forces Confront in Idlib

Syria and Turkey had deployed their forces at their borders. They did so, because Turkey wanted to fight off the Kurds in Syria, who were an apparent threat to Turkey. Russia also involved its self in between, backing up the Syrian forces. US was left in a plight as the Turks were a part of NATO whereas the Kurds helped fight off ISIS in Syria. The forces hadn’t come face to face till yesterday.

Nevertheless, the forces clashed at Idlib yesterday. The clash not only claimed the lives of solider but also of the citizens living nearby. The issue started after Turkey moved in 240 vehicles in Syria which was alarming for the Syrian forces. Syrian forces attacked the convoy, killing five soliders and three Turkish civilians. In retaliation to the attack, Turkish forces launched rockets from Ankara, killing 13 Syrian forces and wounding many more. However, the local Syrian forces have been claiming no loss of life.

Russia, on the other hand has also been attacking those in Syria. Syria has become a battleground for all the countries, leaving the civilians in pain. According to Human Rights Watch, 511,000 have been killed. Moreover, 6.6 million people had to move due to this war, internally. Externally, 5.6 million Syrians have been moving internationally.

There is no end to this war in the foreseen future. However, this should actually come to an end before more lives are lost to this war. We pray for the people of Syria. May God have mercy on them.
