In light of Emine Erdoğan’s tireless efforts in the field of social welfare, women empowerment and social development across the globe, it hardly comes as a surprise that she has earned a spot amongst the 10 most influential figures in the Muslim world. The Institute of Peace and Development (INSPAD) has also nominated the Turkish First Lady for its International Peace Awards 2020.
The association comprises of over 12,000 members belonging to different parts of the world and 5,000 ambassadors of peace. This committee annually filters esteemed influential Muslim personalities across the globe.
The list is inclusive of other influential peacemakers like the head of Bahrain’s Council of Women Shaikha Noora Al Khalifa, former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir bin Muhammad, and U.S. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
In a speech, the philanthropist talked about how Turkey unconditionally welcomed Syrian refugees who were seeking shelter from weapons. Furthermore, she asseverated on the issue of Muslim persecution in Myanmar that she witnessed. Last year, Emine Erdoğan was presented with the “Change-maker” award at the World Humanitarian Forum, held in London.
Previously she visited Pakistan where she attended the Sewing Machine Donation Program, organized by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency for mothers whose children were being treated for thalassemia. Her inaugural speech was full of her love for Pakistan and once again she proved her generous nature when she emphasized on the importance of taking the burden off the shoulders of families in the fight against the disease.
Emine Erdoğan has sealed her position as an influential powerhouse through her constant contributions to the wellness of societies, women and the environment. Those following her Instagram are aware of her frequent humanitarian activities. From visiting animal shelters, families of Turkish martyrs to opening the Disabled Rehabilitation Center, she’s done it all and isn’t stopping anytime soon.
