Judges’ Remarks on Sirine Jahangir’s Performance on Britain’s Got Talent

David Williams remarked, “Well done Sirine. What you couldn’t see was the whole of the Palladium on their feet applauding you because they loved that.”

British singer Alesha Dixon congratulated Sirine on her performance on Britain’s Got Talent, “What a sweet, sweet girl you are, my heart is just melting. You are so nervous but it’s completely understandable because it’s such a massive deal and you sang beautifully.”

Amanda Holden simply said, “I just found the entire audition so poignant, so beautiful and you just exude lightness, it was just brilliant.”

When it came to Simon Cowell’s remarks, he asked Sirine about her nerves. She told him that she only does school performances so “this is something completely new and being able to sing right now is such a big opportunity and I don’t want to waste it.” After her remarks, Cowell was the first one to say yes.

Who is Sirine Jahangir?

Sirine is a 14 year-old British Pakistani singer residing in London. Her parents initially found out about her visual impairment when she was 5 years old when she dressed up as a pirate – as soon as a patch covered her right eye she couldn’t see anything, as all vision had already gone from her left.

She had completely lost the ability to see in her right eye by the age of nine, despite many medical procedures. Her dad Kafeel recalled, “We tried everything, even having her treated in India for six weeks and injections into her eye. But we felt helpless. When she was nine, Sirine was playing a game on her iPad and holding it very close to her face as she always did.”

He went on to add, “Suddenly she came over, handed me the tablet and said she couldn’t play it any more. That was the moment I knew her sight was gone. I took myself into another room of the house to have a cry.”

Sirine Jahangir is the granddaughter of Sahibzada Jahangir, who is a close friend of PM Imran Khan, as well as his spokesman on trade and investment in UK and Europe. When asked, he stated, “Our joy cannot be put in words. She has shown to millions of people what a unique talent she is. She is a confident, super talented and well-liked young girl who wants to spread the message of good in the world.”
