Amazon Fire: Leonardo Gives $5m

The Amazon fire is severely damaging the plants and wildlife due to which Leonardo's organisation will be giving $5m for it's restoration.

The Amazon forest remains wet and humid the whole year. Few months such as July and August are the driest months out of all. The fire has damaged many parts of the Amazon rain forest. How did it caught fire? Well, Amazon is on fire because farmers are deliberately starting blazes in their efforts to clear land for crops or livestock. People think that this is the reason behind the fire however, there’s no proof.

The fire in Amazon have not only damaged the land but also the wildlife living in it. Their habitat was destroyed to a huge extent and they were burnt along with it as well. There were pictures of animals who were burnt in due to the fire. In short, along with plants, wildlife was severely destructed as well.

Greenpeace said in a press release:

“In addition to increasing emissions, deforestation contributes directly to a change in rainfall patterns in the affected region, extending the length of the dry season, further affecting forests, biodiversity, agriculture and human health,”

Satellite images show fires in the Brazilian states of Amazonas. The sad and most concerning part is the fact that this rain forest makes up 20% of the world’s oxygen. It’s the most crucial part of nature of the earth and the fire has damaged most parts of it which will be hurting humans to a great extent.

Earth Alliance:

Leonardo Dicaprio, Laurene Powell Jobs and Brian Seth have formed Earth Alliance. Leonardo DiCaprio is a Hollywood actor who has been an environmentalist for a very long time. Therefore, they have decided to form an emergency fund for the forest. The Earth Alliance has announced to provide $5 million for the restoration of Amazon.

Earth Alliance said:

The destruction of the Amazon rainforest is rapidly releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, destroying an ecosystem that absorbs millions of tonnes of carbon emissions every year and is one of the planet’s best defenses against the climate crisis.
