Darren Sammy: ICC Must Speak Against Social Injustice
Darren Sammy urges ICC to speak up against social injustice against black people. Chris Gayle also mentioned the racism he has faced in his career.
Former West Indies and Peshawar Zalmi captain Darren Sammy urges the International Cricket Council (ICC) and its member nations to speak out against the social injustice after George Floyd was murdered by a white police officer pinning him down with a knee on his neck.
This is not the first incident of systematic racism and has reignited racial tensions in the USA more than ever. However, silence from ICC is unsettling, leading Sammy to tweet at them to speak up.
. @ICC and all the other boards are you guys not seeing what’s happening to ppl like me? Are you not gonna speak against the social injustice against my kind. This is not only about America. This happens everyday #BlackLivesMatter now is not the time to be silent. I wanna hear u

It seems that ICC officials were not immediately available for the comments. Even after Sammy’s tweet, there have been no tweets or statements by the ICC addressing the social injustice people of color have to face.
However, Sammy is not the only one to speak against this social injustice. His former teammate Chris Gayle has also tweeted about the maltreatment he has faced just because he is black.

Agreeing with Darren Sammy, I must ask: why is ICC not speaking up against the social injustices against black people or any person of color? Black lives matter because all lives matter, and it is time that institutions all over the world start recognising and give their support!
