Eid-ul-Adha: Recipes To Try Out This Meaty Eid
On this Eid, we bring you recipes that are so easy to make and extremely appetizing that you won't be able to keep your hands away!
Eid-ul-Adha is all about sacrifice and spreading love. On this day, muslims gather around the whole world to celebrate and give to those who are in need. The ones who cannot afford to eat meat are blessed on this day.
On these days, Muslims all over the world offer Qurbani. It which means a sacrifice/slaughter of an animal on specific days for the pleasure of Allah. It is understood as a symbolic repetition of Ibrahim’s sacrifice of a ram in place of his son.
We’ve brought you some delicious recipes to try out this Eid to make your day special. Be sure to try these out!
Mutton Shinwari Karahi
Juicy and tender pieces of meat with a gravy that is finger licking good. Try out this curry on Eid. It tastes just as good as it looks!
Ingredients:
- Meat with bones (lamb/goat) 500 gm
- tomatoes 3 medium (300 gm)
- green chilies 4-5
- ginger paste 1 tbsp
- garlic paste 1 tbsp
- cumin crushed 1-1/2 tsp
- black pepper crushed 1 tsp
- salt 1 tsp or as required
- fresh ginger and coriander for garnish
- oil 3/4 cup
Directions:
- Heat oil in a wok and add meat.
- Stir and cook until all extra juices from meat evaporates. (almost 4-5 minutes.)
- Add ginger & garlic paste and green chilies then again stir for 2-3 minutes.
- Grind 3 tomatoes very finely and mix well.
- Stir it on high heat until you see oil on sides of the wok.
- Now add 1 cup hot water and cover with lid.
- Let it cook on low heat until meat is soft and tender.
- When meat is fully cooked add salt,crushed cumin and crushed black pepper and mix it.
- Keep stirring on high heat until all extra water evaporates.
- Garnish with fresh coriander and ginger and turn the heat medium until oil comes out from gravy.
- Serve with naan or plain chapati.
This recipe serves 4 people.
Bihari Boti
Meat that is dry yet flavourful. This makes the perfect meal for lunchtime or even a side snack specially on Eid. One can never go wrong with this!
Ingredients:
List 1
- meat boneless cubes 450-500 gm
- raw papaya paste 2 tbsp (use meat tenderizer 1 tbsp if you don’t have papaya)
- ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
- green chili paste 1/2 tbsp ( if you like spice use 1 tbsp)
List 2
- salt 1 tsp
- red chili powder 1 tbsp
- garam masala powder 1/2 tbsp
- star anise powder 1/4 tsp
- yogurt 1/4 cup
- poppy seeds roasted and grind 1/2 tbsp
- fried crushed onion 2 tbsp (use fresh that will give the perfect taste)
- yellow food colour a pinch
List 3
- Sunflower cooking oil 1/4 cup
- white vinegar 2 tbsp
Directions:
- Take boneless of goat or lamb. Try to make small cubes so that it’s easy to cook.
- Mix all the list 1 ingredients and leave it for about 2 to 3 hours.
- After that add all list 2 ingredients in the meat, mix well and marinate this now for 4-5 hours. We suggest you to marinate it overnight.
- Just before cooking, add list 3 ingredients in it. You can cook them in whichever way you like, we chose to put them in an oven.
- Preheat the oven on 175 C. Put the meat on skewer and place them on a baking tray so they cook evenly on both sides.
- Cook them in preheated oven for 40 minutes, turn sides after 20 minutes.
- In the last 2-3 minutes brush them with oil for moisture and shine.
- Once it’s cooked, plate it and serve with chapati and chutney.
This recipes serves 2 to 3 people.
Beef Yakhni Pulao
Something for all the rice lovers! This Beef yakhni pulao will take you to cloud nine
Ingredients:
For beef stock
- beef with bones meat 500-550 g
- onion 1 medium
- garlic cloves 4-5
- ginger 1 inch piece
- whole coriander 1 tbsp
- fennel seeds 1 tbsp
List 2
- basmati rice 2-1/2 cup (almost 500 g)
- ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
- onion 1 big
- salt 2-1/2 tsp or as required
- green chilies 3-4 (add more if you like spicy)
- yogurt 250 g
- white vinegar 1 tbsp
List 3
- caraway seeds (kala zeera) 1 tsp
- cinnamon stick (darchini) 1 small
- small cardamom (choti ilaichi) 5-6
- cloves (long) 8-9
- whole black pepper (9-10)
Directions:
- Soak basmati rice for 1/2 hour.
- Now for beef stock, in a pan add all the required ingredients.
- Add 3 glass water and cook until meat is nicely tender.
- Take a strainer, strain cooked and separate beef from the stock. Remove fennel seeds and coriander.
- Take a big pan, add 1/4 cup oil in it with finely sliced onions, cook on medium heat until they are brown.
- Take out onions and set a side, these will be used later.
- Now in same oil add all list 3 ingredients. Stir for 5 seconds and make to not burn it.
- Add beef with 1 tbsp ginger & garlic paste and saute it for 1 minute.
- Add yogurt, green chilies and salt. Mix it well.
- Add 4 cups of beef stock and let it boil. Make sure to use same cup for measuring stock which you used for measuring rice.
- Add soaked rice and cook it on high heat until all water evaporates. Try not to stir it too much otherwise your rice will break.
- Add fried onions on top 1 tbsp of white vinegar. Vinegar will prevent the rice from sticking together.
- Place the lid on top and cook it on very low heat for 10 minutes.
- Beef yakhni pulao is ready, serve it with raita.
This recipe serves 5 people.
Pepper Steak With Mushroom Sauce
In the mood for some western food? Pepper steak with creamy and delicious mushroom sauce is the perfect way to swing your mood
Ingredients:
For steak
- sirloin meat 250 g
- salt as required
- black pepper crushed as required
- white vinegar 1 tbsp
- butter 1 tbsp
- oil 3-4 tbsp
For mushroom sauce
- mushrooms 5-6
- double cream 3/4 cup
- butter 1 tbsp
- salt 1/4 tsp or as required
- black pepper crushed 1/2 tsp
Directions:
- Take meat for steak. Rub it with salt, crushed black pepper and vinegar.
- Marinate it for 15 minutes.
- Heat 1 tbsp butter and 2-3 tbsp oil in a pan. Cook steak almost for 3-4 minutes each side for medium rare.
- When its done, take out on a plate. Preserve oil in which steak was cooked.
- For creamy mushroom sauce, take a pan,add 1 tbsp butter.
- Add mushrooms and stir for 2-3 minutes.
- Add double cream ,salt, crushed black pepper and extra oil which was used to cook the steak.
- Mix well and cook on medium heat until the sauce is slightly thick and creamy.
- The sauce is ready, serve it with the steak and enjoy!
