Handmaid Tales Inspired Wedding Photos
Here's the story behind that viral "The Handmaid's Tale" wedding photographs that went viral and you're probably seeing it everywhere.
A ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ themed photos surfaced recently. Two Canadian photographers faced a lot criticism due to the wedding photos. The shoot was staged where the scenes of the show have been filmed in Canada.
The picture shows a man and a woman kissing in front of the wall, which is a part of show where the fictional Gilead leaders used to hang dead bodies of dissenters. One of the photographers stated that he photo shopped The Handmaids wearing the iconic red dresses with the white bonnets.
Although the photographers removed the pictures from their social media platforms on the couple’s request after it went viral on Facebook. Shawn Van Daele told the sources ““Everyone loves a good witch hunt and apparently today we are their witch.”
Well if you are not aware of the series, it is based on the book under the same name, The Handmaid’s characters are forced to bare bear children of infertile couples. where as being gay is illegal.
The photographer Van Daele and his husband, Clint Russell, had only good intentions.
The wedding itself was not at all ‘Handmaid Tale’ inspired but the couple and the photographer are huge fans of the series.
The show itself had an impact on the real world from, protesters wearing costumes as symbols of oppression, to Kylie Jenner throwing Handmaid Tale – themed party fro a friend.
