Gola Ganda is one of those things, on which the entire awaam of Pakistani mutually agrees on. Obviously, who wouldn’t love to have a thanda gola with colourful flavours atop? But, every day has its night. The famous Dhoraji Gola Ganda is no more. The carts of this colourful iced sweet are no more. The Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) demolished all the carts, hence putting an end to the legacy of this favourite street side sweet.
Here are some of the pictures shared on SWOT’s indicating a huge loss for food loving Karachiites:
Note that these pictures show the stranded area where different carts of street food used to be. Other than Dhoraji’s famous Gola Ganda, this road side place was the safe haven of street food. Though the entire city has been shook by KMC’s decision to destruct the model food we all love, but the step came about due to illegal use of the place. The cart owners who had been standing and selling their products at the same area for years, were doing that with illegal means and encroachment
Here are some of the reactions of people that have flooded the social media:
Some are applauding the government for this step:
While others are crying for their beloved:
Here, this genius man even told us what was happening!
Though there is certainly a long debate on whether these Thaila Wala’s should have been allowed to stay there or not. But, it is good to hear that we would be getting the same taste back soon, and that too in a legal and sanctioned pace of land.
