Meghan Markle Accuses Royal Family of Pushing Her to the Brink of Suicide

Meghan Markle accused the British royal family of racism, lying and pushing her to the brink of suicide, in a televised interview with Oprah.

In her interview with Oprah Winfrey which aired on CBS late on Sunday, Meghan Markle revealed that she ended up having suicidal thoughts and considered self-harm after asking for help but getting none.

Megan Markle added that her first child, Archie, aged one, had been denied the title of a prince due to the royal family’s concerns over how dark his skin might be. “They didn’t want him to be a prince,” Meghan said adding there had been “conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.” She added that she grew increasingly concerned over Archie not receiving the title because it meant he wouldn’t be provided security.

Talking about concerns over her son’s safety and protection, teary-eyed Meghan Markle recalled, “We’re not saying don’t make him a prince or princess, whatever it’s going to be. But if you’re saying the title is going to affect their protection, we haven’t created this monster machine around us in terms of clickbait and tabloid fodder. You’ve allowed that to happen, which means our son needs to be safe.”

Although, both Harry and Meghan declined to reveal who raised these problems, Harry did mention that his father, Charles- heir to the British throne- had let him down and refused to take his calls at one point. Moreover, the family had cut them off financially at the start of 2020. However, Harry was he was able to afford security for his family because of the money his mother, Princess Diana, left behind.

“I feel really let down. He’s been through something similar. He knows what pain feels like. And Archie is his grandson. I will always love him, but there is a lot of hurt that has happened.”

While accusing the Royal Family of being ignorant, deceitful and uncaring, Meghan Markle revealed that Kate Middleton- wife of Prince William- made her cry right before her wedding ceremony. Meghan’s pleas for help while in a state of suffering and distress at racist reporting had fallen on deaf ears.

“I just didn’t want to be alive any more. And that was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought. And I remember how he [Harry] just cradled me,” Meghan said, wiping away tears.

Furthermore, Harry said he wouldn’t have been able to leave the Royal Family if it hadn’t been for his wife, Meghan Markle.
“I wouldn’t have been able to, because I myself was trapped,” Harry said. “I didn’t see a way out.

A noteworthy observation made by many was that while the family including Prince Charles came in for open criticism from Harry and Meghan, neither attacked Queen Elizabeth directly.
“I’ve never blindsided my grandmother,” he said. “I have too much respect for her,” said Harry.
“The queen has always been wonderful to me,” Meghan said.
