Mob Attacks Civil Hospital Karachi After COVID-19 Patient Died
A mob of around 70 people attacked the medical staff at Civil Hospital Karachi after a patient suffering from COVID-19 died during treatment, and it seems that it is not the first time doctors are being attacked.
A mob attacked the medical staff at Civil Hospital Karachi after a patient suffering from COVID-19 died during treatment, and it seems that it is not the first time this is happening either. Doctors claim that swabs of the patient were taken according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
In the recent attack, around 70 people entered the hospital and took the deceased’s body from the emergency ward. Furthermore, the mob harassed and attacked the medical staff that was present at Civil Hospital Karachi.
One of the doctors present stated that this is the third time they were attacked this week. The recent attack took place around 11 pm. The incident was confirmed by the Medical Superintendent at Civil Hospital Karachi, Dr Khadim Qureshi, stating that that the police was asked to lodge an FIR against the attackers.
Dr Khadim Qureshi further added, “Doctors are demanding security. It’s hard for them to work under this kind of situation.”
After the latest incident, the doctors are demanding that they be given additional security in the form of Sindh Rangers. They claim that the police that was stationed outside Civil Hospital Karachi did not help the medical staff when they were attacked after a COVID-19 patient died during treatment.
