Pakistan Added to ‘Decreto-Flussi’ Work Visa List

For the year 2020-21, the Italian government has permitted Pakistanis from receiving seasonal & non-seasonal work Italy visa.

In an official statement, the Italian government has added Pakistan to the ‘Decreto-Flussi’ work visa list. This means Pakistanis will be permitted to avail seasonal and non-seasonal Italy visa for the year 2020-2021.

The statement further stated that there will be 30,000 work Italy visas issued to those on the list. The list includes only a few non-EU countries, Pakistan being one of them.

Albania, Algeria, Bangladesh, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Korea (Republic of Korea), Ivory Coast, Egypt, El Salvador, Ethiopia. The Philippines. The Gambia, Ghana, Japan, India, Kosovo, Mali, Morocco, Mauritius. Moldova, Montenegro, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Republic of North Macedonia, Senegal, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tunisia and Ukraine.

Pakistanis working in the tourism, agricultural, construction and freight forwarding sectors can avail the Italy visa. This re-inclusion has taken place after two years since it had been withdrawn before.

Pakistani Ambassador to Italy,  Jauhar Saleem revealed that Italy hosts the largest Pakistani diaspora in the EU following Brexit, which has sent over $142 million in remittances in 2019-2020. Therein, the Pakistani community in Italy was demanding Pakistan’s re-inclusion to the list of countries eligible to avail Italy visa.

Ambassador Saleem added that because of its expertise in the agricultural sector, Pakistanis workforce demand in Italy has been high. The overall demand for Pakistani workers in the Italian market is rising. Therefore, it is expected that with the current scheme of Italy visa being issued, Pakistani workers would obtain gainful employment in Italy.

Despite the second wave of the coronavirus, the Pakistani embassies in both, Rome and Milan have been fully functional to cater to the Pakistani diaspora and for the benefit of employment opportunities.

These developments in the relations between Italy and Pakistan have been a hot topic in international relations and global politics. Recently, the two even joined hands for economic and business-related collaboration. Read more here
