Reforms in Criminal Justice System PM’s Priority
Binging reforms in the country’s criminal justice system is the government's top priority so that the common man can also get justice without any hassle.
On Thursday, January 21, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced that bringing reforms in the country’s Criminal Justice System was the PTI Government’s top priority so that the common wan can also receive justice like the upper class.
“It (criminal justice system) is the most important sector and, therefore, we want to bring reforms in it,” he said while addressing the launching ceremony of an online system for the purpose of issuing letters of administration and succession certificates.
The notion of ‘crime pays’ needs to negated from society by ensuring the provision of justice to all, especially the poor and unprivileged class.
Imran Khan apologised for and regretted the delay in the inheritance of property caused grievances to heirs, particularly among families living abroad.
“The overall system that denies the spirit of facilitation to the general public in fact encourages criminal activities in the shape of bribery or illegal occupation of a property. When crime pays, crime multiplies,” he added.
Imran Khan stated that during the process of making reforms in the criminal justice system, judiciary and lawyers will be involved. The main goal of his government was to mirror the welfare state of Madina, where revenues and wealth were diverted towards upliftment and facilitation of the underprivileged.
Launching the system for issuance of letters of administration and succession certificates within the 15-day period, the premier said the initiative will greatly facilitate local citizens and overseas Pakistanis.
“The main objective of digitalisation of inheritance system is to facilitate the general public and provide them justice without any inordinate delay,” he added.
