Shyraa Roy is a neophyte in the music industry who started her career around 4 months back. She released her first debut track called ‘Raat’ which became the reason for her sudden popularity. Shyraa is currently working on two projects simultaneously and will be releasing them soon.
Q. How did you start your singing career? We want to know the whole story!
I started at a very tender age when I was in grade 4. I was very fond of Bollywood and that’s why I always wanted to be on TV or on mainstream media. I followed most of the celebrities from Bollywood, but was never in the situation that I could start. Hence, I started taking part in different inter-college and school singing competitions from where I’ve actually got the confidence to face the stage and audience. In 2015 I started working as a radio jockey and then in December 2019, I came up with my debut track called ‘Raat’.
Q. What was your inspiration behind your latest single called ‘Raat’?
Raat was designed by Aditiya Dev, the most veteran Bollywood music director, and I think I’m the first Pakistan Artist who has worked with such a big celebrity music director. It was filmed by Sunny UG, who is a famous Lahore based filmmaker. Raat was an extraordinarily sizzling and seductive section of the music. I was somewhat inspired by Jasmin Walia.

Q. Whom or what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by Shreya Ghoshal and Madam Noor Jehan. They are some of the biggest gems of the music industry and I try to follow their expressions and style of singing.
Q. How has the industry treated you so far?
The industry has been good to me. I was invited to attend the Pakistan International Screen Awards (PISA) in Dubai as a debutant Artist within four months of my arrival into this industry. So, it is going great.
Q. What other projects are you working on?
I’m working on a collaboration with Mohsin Abbas Haider and a single called ‘Kareeb Ao‘. These two mega-hit music videos out by this year.
Q. Who is that one person whom you would like to collaborate with and why?
I’m looking forward to work with Rahat Jee. I’m already in discussions with him and his team. Let’s see, maybe by the end of the year, I may confirm a collaboration with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
Q. Any advice that you want to give to our readers who want to join this industry?
I would say to be yourself. Don’t think about trollers and just love the way you are. Be super stylish and be your own stylist and fashionista. Sing from your full feel. Don’t judge anyone and never lose touch with your inner self.
