The Flying Lady

“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them”. –Walt Disney

Namira Salim, a girl born in Karachi, Pakistan, had a dream to become an Astronaut, and with much hardship, she pursued her dream back in August 2006. She not only made Pakistan proud by being the first female astronaut but also became the “First Pakistani Astronaut” ever to be selected in this respective profession.

Apart from her passion of being an astronaut she has always been enthusiastic in regards to travelling. Namira, is also the first Pakistani to travel across the north and south poles respectively, which is much challenging than it seems to be. Moreover, this outstanding lady was the first Asian to skydive from Mount Everest, which obviously is something really difficult to do. LIKE WOW!! Astonishing, isn’t it?

Obviously, our country keeps such people always in high regards. Namira Salim, was presented the Medal of Excellence (Tamgha e Imtiaz) on 23rd March 2011, by the former president of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari. In 2003, Pakistan Power 100 in London awarded Namira by Power 100 Trailblazer Award.

We all are proud of you, Namira. You have made us proud and there is much more to come.
