The Grammy Awards: Wins and Tributes

The Grammy Award is considered to be one of the most prestigious events in all of music. Last night's event provided it us with some memorable moments.

Wins and tributes. These were the best two words to describe last night’s Grammy Awards. The award shows have always been well renowned for rewarding some of the best that the music industry has to offer. The event was held last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The event was marred by the tragic demise of basketball legend Kobe Bryant, who had died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. Countless tributes were made to the basketball great by several of the industry’s most famous artists.

Her performance was a medley of some of her best work including the smash hit ‘Truth Hurts’. R&B legend Alicia Keys also dedicated her performance last night to the former LA Lakers star. She performed ‘Its So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday’ with Boyz II Men.

Other tributes included the one from DJ Khaled, where he performed alongside John Legend, Meek Mill, Kirk Franklin, Roddy Rich and YG. Although the performance was dedicated to the late rapper Nipsey Hussle, the artists later pointed to an image on the screen of Hussle and Bryant together. Khlaed later went on to dedicate the performance to Bryant as well.
