WHO Recommends Video Games to Curb COVID-19

#PlayApartTogether comes as COVID-19 needs to be curtailed - it was a surprise due to WHO's stance on video games and their impact on mental health.

WHO’s latest campaign #PlayApartTogether has been introduced in partnership with 18 video game companies including live-streaming giant Twitch and Activision Blizzard – the initiative comes as the COVID-19 pandemic requires everyone to practice social distancing.

CEO Bobby Kitock, Activision Blizzard stated,“It’s never been more critical to ensure people stay safely connected to one another. Games are the perfect platform because they connect people through the lens of joy, purpose, and meaning. We are proud to participate in such a worthwhile and necessary initiative.”

#PlayApartTogether is an unexpected campaign from WHO, considering their stance on video games and their impact on mental health. WHO ambassador for global strategy Ray Chambers said in that he hopes that video games can “reach millions with important messages to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.”

This goes in line with what other gaming companies, such as Nintendo Switch, are doing to ensure that people can meet online during the pandemic. Social Distancing is extremely important in these days to curtail COVID-19. Cases are still rising in Pakistan, and it is a top priority to decelerate the rate of transmission.
