Will Smith Smacks Chris Rock During Oscar For Making Joke About His Wife
Will Smith punched Chris Rock after he cracks a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith. This left the crowd stunned and questioning if it is staged or genuine.
Will Smith invaded the Oscars stage and punched the famous comedian Chris Rock in the face for making a joke about Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith during the Sunday Oscar event, this left the audience stunned and questioning if it was genuine or staged.
Rock was on stage to present the award for the documentary feature but before announcing the winner he made a playful joke about Jada Pinkett Smith saying that because of her shaved off head she may be in “G.I. Jane”. Smith then walked onto the stage and slapped Rock. “Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth!” Smith raged at Rock, despite the fact that it looked to be a joke at first.
While the spectators were still stunned the awards carried on. Diddy was supposed to follow Chris Rock at the ceremony after his category of documentary feature, appearing to promote “The Godfather’s” 50th-anniversary celebration. “Will and Chris, we’re going to solve this like family,” Diddy spoke of the situation. ” Right now we’re moving on with love. Everybody make some noise.”
During the commercial break following this incident Meredith O. Sullivan, publicist of Will Smith had a discussion with the Aladdin actor and continued to visit him during each commercial break. During the intermission, Denzel Washington rose to talk with Smith discreetly.
Smith was shortlisted for his role in “King Richard” and went on to win the Oscar later that night. Smith shared Denzel Washington’s words during his best actor award acceptance speech, “At your highest moment, be careful, that’s when the devil comes for you,” he said to him during the intermission. Will Packer, the Oscars producer, also paid Smith a visit just before he won the award for best actor category.
During his remarks, Smith added, “Richard Williams was a staunch protector of his family.”
“I want to apologise to the Academy. I want to apologise to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me. It’s about being able to shine a light on all of the people. Tim and Trevor and Zack and Saniyya and Demi and Aunjanue and the entire cast and crew of ‘King Richard,’ Venus and Serena, the entire Williams family. Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father, just like they said about Richard Williams,” Smith stated in his sad acceptance speech
