Fashion designer Asim Jofa was named Sindh Ministry of Health’s new advisor for PPE quality control by Minister of Health Dr Azra Pechuho. Jofa announced the news via Twitter on June 26.

Asim Jofa was one of the first designers to start the production of PPE in Pakistan and lent a hand in the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In March 2020, he uploaded a video to showcase the first fabric prototype of the protective suit, and distributed them at hospitals for free.
Since then, other fashion designers and celebrities, like Deepak Perwani and Shaniera Akram, joined with Asim Jofa to create PPE.
Asim Jofa also took part in the virtual fashion walk arranged by Frieha Altaf called Catwalk Cares in June 2020. Initially, the fashion walk was going to happen at Eid, however, due to the PIA plane crash in Karachi, it was delayed.
