Emmy Awards to be Held as Planned in September
The 72nd Emmy Awards will be held in September, as planned. The host will be Jimmy Kimmel but it's yet unclear whether the event will be telecasted online or not.
The 72nd Emmy Awards will be held as usual. It will be exec produced by ABC and aired on it too. Jimmy Kimmel, the famous host who has his own show on ABC, will be hosting this year’s Emmy Awards. Jimmy Kimmel confirmed that the awards will be held but he’s not sure how or where. The awards will take place at the decided time, which is 21st September.
Jimmy Kimmel said in a statement:
“I don’t know where we will do this or how we will do this or even why we are doing this, but we are doing it and I am hosting it,”
It seems as if the Emmy Awards might take place online considering the fact that even Jimmy Kimmel doesn’t know about the area where it will take place. It could be online as major events, that were supposed to be held this year, have been cancelled. Events like the Met Gala and many others have been postponed, for obvious reasons, and no dates have been given.
Kimmel hosted both the 2012 and 2016 Emmy Awards. He also hosted the Oscars two years in a row (2017-18) as well as the 2012 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. This year’s Emmy Awards will also be hosted by him as mentioned.

“He’s a true master of ceremonies who reveres this industry and its people; and just as Jimmy has done with his own show over the past few months, he will tackle this momentous event with heart and humor, and bring some much-needed joy and optimism to our television colleagues and viewers at home.”
It’s clear that Jimmy Kimmel has a vast experience in hosting shows. He has recently hosted many online shows as well, proving that he is the perfect fit for online broadcasts too. Nominations for the 72nd Emmy Awards will be announced by the Television Academy on Tuesday, July 28.
