What is the Enneagram

To put it simply, the Enneagram is simply a framework for self-discovery and personal growth based on the nine basic personality types it consists of. It can accurately and clearly explain why you think, feel and behave in the ways you do.
The defining quality of the Enneagram is in its ability to manoeuver self-limiting behaviours into life-enhancing personal empowerment. The beauty of the Enneagram is that it acts as a valuable tool to understand and improve ourselves and sustain meaningful relationships with ourselves, others and God through self-discovery.

The Enneagram is often referred to as a soul-searching tool and in order to understand it fully, it is essential to break it down properly. Meditation leader, Jill Willard has broken it down perfectly.

2- Helper [ Demonstrative, Generous, People-Pleasing, and Possessive ]

3- Achiever [ Adaptive, Excelling, Driven, and Image-Conscious ]

4- Individualist [ Expressive, Dramatic, Self-Absorbed, and Temperamental ]

5- Investigator [ Perceptive, Innovative, Secretive, and Isolated ]

6- Loyalist [ Engaging, Responsible, Anxious, and Suspicious ]

7- Enthusiast [ Spontaneous, Versatile, Distractible, and Scattered ]

8- Challenger [ Self-Confident, Decisive, Willful, and Confrontational ]

9- Peacemaker [ Receptive, Reassuring, Agreeable, and Complacent ]

 

When reading our dominant Enneagram number’s description, it’s crucial not to be too strict and allow degrees of leniancy. It is imperative to not forget that humans are complex and diverse beings- a personality test cannot place your personality into one category; everythingexists on a scale.
