In Conversation With Komal Rizvi | Billboard Pakistan

there is a dire need for good quality and affordable skincare in Pakistan!

Komal Rizvi is a renowned singer who has been in the industry for quite some time. Her strong vocals differentiate her from the rest and that’s why she has a very distinct voice. Her flourishing singing career has allowed her to explore more fields; hence, she started her own skincare line last year which has gained a lot of popularity in Pakistan.

Q. What inspired you to launch your skincare line considering the fact you did great in your singing career?

I realized that there is a dire need for good quality and affordable skincare in Pakistan. I noticed that the Pakistani skincare businesses are not generally providing honest and advanced technology-based skincare and one had to resort to buying imported products, which was really sad. My singing career is still going, I will never leave music. I just launched a new song called ‘Jogiya’ and its part of my blood and it will always be my main profession. TrulyKomal is a business so they’re two separate things that I’m doing simultaneously.

Q. Your products have been designed with stem cell technology. Could you explain how that works?

My serum is designed with stem cell technology. Stem cells inherently go towards where the body is facing issues or problems so unless you have a medical condition, these are fruit Halal stem cells, they go straight to where your skin needs help and they try to fix the issue. So, if you have issues like pigmentation, uneven skin tone, enlarged pores,   texture then the serum will help with all of these issues.

Q. Your skincare products are mostly sold online or through WhatsApp. Do you plan on selling them in retail stores?

My skincare products are mostly sold online and on WhatsApp but they are also available in all the retail stores. They are available at Agha’s, Springs, Necos, Milestone, Ebcos, Health mart, Naheeds and Vickys. They’re pretty much available everywhere. In Islamabad, they’re available at Vegas Cosmetics and they’re in sensation. They’re in all major stores.

Q. How do you manage to balance your social life and work-life?

It’s not hard to manage my social life and work-life because you know work always comes first for me but yeah, my personal family life and work is like a bit different to manage because MashaAllah, I have a very big family & I’m very close to them. In the daytime, I mostly work and then in the evenings, I try to spend as much time with my family as I can. On weekends, I try to have a social life and try to see my friends. It’s important for me to be balanced.

Q. Your Instagram bio says that you’re a Computer Scientist. Did you ever dabble into that field?

I have done my bachelor’s in Computer Science with honors, but I never actually practiced it. I also have a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineering certificate. When I was studying that was what I wanted to do but I never actually worked in that field.

Q. Where does your fashion sense lean more towards?

My fashion sense leads to two things. I have a very outrageous, bold, very sophisticated yet kind of rock starry taste when it comes to red carpets and when it comes to being at home, I like being very comfortable in very loose tracks & t-shirts and just be very casual and very comfortable.

Q. What’s a cause that is important to you?

The cause that is very important to me is vocational training because I believe everybody in Pakistan, and there’s a huge unemployed population here, everyone should have some skills instead of wasting their time. As you know the idle mind is a devil’s workshop so, instead of creating havoc and wasting their time and indulging in strikes and badmashi, men can have a skillset from which they can earn money to provide for their family and women, if they’re abused, left by their husbands, their husbands die or kicks them out, then they have enough training and skills that they can support themselves.

Q. The biggest learning experience you’ve had?

My biggest learning experience has been that you can plan to a certain extent. You can only hope and have faith in yourself. The most important thing is to enjoy the moment.

Q. One thing people don’t know about you?

I think the one thing that people don’t know about me is that deep down inside I’m extremely family-oriented and a very simple, straightforward person that’s usually not the impression people have of me.

Q. What is your favorite cuisine?

My favorite cuisine is obviously Pakistani food, that too if it’s cooked at home. I don’t think anything can beat home-cooked food after home food if you were to ask me what my favorite cuisine is then I would say that French and Japanese cuisine.

Q. What’s inspiring you in life right now?

I’ve always had the same inspiration and my inspiration has always been to look up to people who have achieved a lot in their life. Not necessarily in terms of money but they are achievers they’re doers they spend their day doing constructive, positive and productive things. I think positivity inspires me like nobody’s business.
