#NotMyDeepika -Deepika Padukone Urged By Fans Not To Work With #MeToo Accused Luv Ranjan

Deepika and Ranbir Kapoor were seen leaving Luv Ranjan's office, who was accused of sexual harassment by an actor.

83929In October 2018, the #MeToo movement enveloped the sub-continent highlighting many of those who we have loved, cherished and celebrated in the past as sexual harassers and abusers.
A lot of these individuals were individuals from the media industry, who occupy positions of immense power and fame.
Amidst the allegations, one of the names that surfaced was of the filmmaker, Luv Ranjan, who was accused of sexual harassment by an actor.
Streaks of misogyny, sexism and toxic masculinity are evident in Ranjan’s work, catering to a very specific male audience.
Using the hashtag #notmyDeepika, fans on Twitter are registering their anger and disappointment at the prospect of their favorite actor working with an alleged sexual harasser.
Despite the #NotMyDeepika appeal from her fans, it looks like actress Deepika Padukone will likely be in #MeToo accused director Luv Ranjan’s next film. No official announcement has been made but the Internet went into overdrive after Deepika, 33, was spotted leaving the filmmaker’s home two days ago with Ranbir Kapoor and even though the prospect of the two working together makes many fans ecstatic, others are furious.

Fans are reminding Deepika of everything she has claimed to stand up for. They’re reminding Deep of all that’s at stake if she goes ahead with this.

Many are fuming. All love and admiration aside, fans are very clear about their stance on this one; they would root for Deepika on any other day, but not when she decides to work with an abuser.

Ranbir Kapoor is not being held to the same standard of accountability as his colleague – there are no tweets asking him not to work with Luv Ranjan. Deepika Padukone, it seems, is associated with a greater level of integrity and some tweets point out the irony of the feminist content of her work in rogress Chhapaak, based on the life of an acid attack survivor, versus the potential Luv Ranjan film.
