Pakistanis Arrive Back Home From China

Monday marked the arrival of Pakistani citizens from China following the lifting of travel restrictions placed by authorities in response to the coronavirus

After a complete halt on flights to and from China, the Pakistani government finally allowed flight operations between the two countries to commence. The first group of Pakistanis started arriving on Monday after the authorities had finally approved of authorizing the commencement of flights between the two nations.

The earlier decision to halt flights between the two nations was based on the recommendations of the World Health Organization. Pakistani officials believed that the decision was made in the best interest of the country. It would help prevent the further spread of the virus in the country.

Many of the passengers leaving China for Pakistan were to spend fourteen days under quarantine before they can come back into the country. Many of the passenger arriving from China had to sign health declaration forms that indicated that they were free of the virus.

While people are allowed to travel from different parts of China, no one is allowed to leave the city of Wuhan and the Hubei province at large. The decision was made to prevent people from leaving the city and province most affected by the coronavirus.

Pakistani government and health officials were present at Islamabad airport to welcome the Pakistani passengers arriving from China. The airport was equipped with screening systems that helped Pakistani authorities detect if anyone coming into the country had the virus.

The breakout of the disease has claimed the lives of three hundred and sixty people in China alone. The first international casualty of the virus was reported in the Philippines. The virus has spread to twenty four countries and have prompted many governments to place travel restrictions on Chinese nationals wishing to enter their countries.
