When the Technique of Acrobatics Meets the Art of Yoga
Hear it from The Athletic Crew at Karachi AcroYoga!
Karachi AcroYoga is an initiative taken by a group of friends who get together and practice acroyoga in different parts of Karachi.
Acroyoga is a mash-up of acrobatics and yoga. A globally recognized fitness practice that involves a minimum of two individuals. A base – the person who provides support against the ground to the person elevated – the flyer. One more individual – the spotter is usually needed to help and ensure that the base and flyer get into the designated posture.
Acroyoga is all about connection through playfulness, communication and trust. On top of having a great time, acroyoga is great for improving strength, flexibility and balance.
Our team has been training for more than a year now and we’d like to share the joy with others out there with similar interests. We’ve had 3 free master classes, a host of free jams in public spaces and team building sessions around the city in attempts to build an acroyoga community. The response so far has been phenomenal!
We have had workshops in different studios and community spaces. Our recent workshop was held on April 28, 2018 on acroyoga basics at Alliance Francaise in Karachi.
Why we do what we do?
To transform a society that is divided among social strata scared about meeting new people limited to their own social circle – A culture that is devoid of recreational activities, where the only form of entertainment is food.
Taking our passion for acroyoga forward we have gotten certifications in different forms of yoga:
Dhanak: 100hr Acro-Vinyasa level 1 teacher
Ajlaan: RYT 200 Yoga teacher
Aroon: 40hr Acro-Yoga teacher
