FOX, one of the most popular US Television Network, has finally broken the official story details of the X-Men spin-off. Hence, confirming our suspicions that there would be no X-Men in the movie.
Going by the title of “The Gifted”, Fox and Marvel are collaborating for the very first time. The movie will star Amy Acker and Stephan Moyer as the fugitive parents of mutant children, constantly running from the uncertain security of the government. The earlier speculations of the X-Men absence have now been confirmed by show runner Matt Nix:
“That’s not a dodge. That’s not like ‘The X-Men’ are gone and we’re never going to deal with it. It’s a thing in the show and we’re going to be exploring it, and it’s a huge deal to these guys, it’s a huge deal in the world. It’s one of the central mysteries of the show.”
The show, based on the Marvel Comics storyline will borrow some characters of the X-Men franchise and will be based on ten episodes. As per Nix, Blink, Polaris and other public favourites are expected to appear, but their power won’t be as developed as previously shown in the comics.
Jamie Chung, while describing her character Blink, revealed that she is not comfortable with the powers that she has been bestowed with. She struggles with accepting her reality.
Fox further revealed that Elena Satine famed for ’24: Legacy’ will be donning the hat of a Dreamer for the series. The Dreamer is basically a mutant who will remove or implant people’s memories.
“One of the things about her character is that s a really sexy power that isn’t a gigantic power. We aren’t blowing up a building with her… it doesn’t involve a six-week CG build,” Nix said.
“The Gifted” is expected to premiere on 2nd October on Fox. Let’s wait and see if fulfils the expectations that we had for a long time or not.
