The Israeli forces attacked mourners in Jerusalem’s old city during the funeral procession of Shireen Abu Akleh. The footage of the attack has received widespread condemnation from people across the globe.
One of the more prominent voices raising her concern was the Victoria Secret model herself, Bella Hadid.
The model took to Instagram to condemn the Israeli forces for their attack on the funeral of Shireen Abu Akleh.
She says “This is Occupation. This is the kind of torture and abuse Palestinians face at the hands of the Israeli military occupation.”
The super model criticized the way the Israeli forces treated the mourners by hitting and pushing them around.
She even called Shireen Abu Akleh a “Palestinian veteran and legend”. She claims that the Israeli forces want to silence the voices of Palestinians seeking justice.
This is not the first time that Bella Hadid stood up for the rights of the Palestinians. Last year, the model took to the streets in protest against Israeli bombardment of Gaza in May.
She was even critical of laws against Muslim women in countries all over the world. Mostly calling out the governments in Canada, Europe and India for their anti-Hijab laws.
Others who have also condemned the murder of Shireen Abu Akleh include the UN Security Council. They demanded for an independent and swift investigation into the murder of the Al Jazeera journalist.
US Secretary of State had this to say on Twitter regarding the murder of Shireen Abu Akleh.
We were deeply troubled by the images of Israeli police intruding into the funeral procession of Palestinian American Shireen Abu Akleh. Every family deserves to lay their loved ones to rest in a dignified and unimpeded manner.

On Wednesday, Shireen Abu Akleh was murdered by Israeli forces while covering their attack on Jenin Refugee Camp. According to reports, the journalist was shot in the head by Israeli forces.
