After witnessing a Death Eater attack at the Quidditch World Cup, Harry Potter has been having eccentric dreams and visions about Lord Voldemort. He hoped that this year it would be better than his others.

“There will be three tasks, spaced throughout the school year, and they will test the champions in many different ways . . .their magical prowess – their daring – their powers of deduction – and, of course, their ability to cope with danger.”

The Triwizard Tournament is right around the corner and The Boy Who Lived wants nothing to do with it. However, when the burning blue flame of the Goblet of Fire throws out the parchment with Harry’s name he is instantly the youngest wizard in the hazardous tournament.

“Dark times lie ahead of us and there will be a time when we must choose between what is easy and what is right.”

Though underage, Harry Potter is chosen to compete in the Triwizard Tournament alongside three other-older and more experienced-campions. Becoming a champion has made Harry’s fourth year a maelstrom of criticism from the Wizarding World.

His best friend Ronald Weasley believes that Harry is all about the fame and attention he is receiving as a result. When really, he has no clue how to convince everyone that he wasn’t the one who put his name in the Goblet of Fire and pass the tasks of the tournament without cracking his glasses.

J.K. Rowling explores the importance of equality and racism through the idea of pureblood wizards and witches thinking that they are superior, and rejecting the muggles, half-bloods and muggle-borns. Lord Voldemort represents prejudice, bigotry and wrath in the best way as he attempts to gain back his true form in the fourth installment whilst trying to get closer to the boy who bears the scar.

“It is a strange thing, but when you are dreading something, and would give anything to slow down time, it has a disobliging habit of speeding up.”

Still, the question is: who put Harry’s name in the Goblet of Fire?
